Slice No Dice: Japanese Small Plates

Slice No Dice is back and after the huge response we had to our Japanese night last year, we’re doing another one with an updated menu!

The next event in our Slice No Dice plant based dining series is a special Japanese Small plates menu. This event will put our amazing chef’s skills front and centre, with no dice or board games involved at all.

The event will be held in our main restaurant on Tuesday 21st July and no games bookings will be allowed! This evening is all about the food and will be a fully restaurant vibe.

We’re hard at work on testing the new additions to the menu but our current plan is below (we may make tweaks between now and the event!)

  • Osuimono Soup - Light and delicate clear soup made with seasoned dashi broth

  • Sunomono - Cucumber and wakame salad with seasoned vinegar

  • Yakitori Skewers - Grilled chicken-style skewers glazed with tare, a sweet and savoury soy-based sauce

  • Yaki-Onigiri - Grilled rice balls filled with shiitake mushrooms pickled in soy sauce. Topped with a sweet miso sauce and wrapped in nori

  • Kaarage Bites - Bite sized pieces of crispy deep friend chicken-style pieces served with a creamy zesty dipping sauce

  • Okonomiyaki - Japanese teppanyaki savoury pancake with shredded cabbage, yamaimo, pickled ginger and shiitake mushrooms. Topped with okonomiyaki sauce and Japanese mayo

  • Yasai Gyoza - Vegetable filled gyoza served with a dipping sauce

The evening will run in staggered sittings in order to minimise the pressure on our small kitchen. There are a limited number of tables available so we’d recommend grabbing yours before they go!

Game-lovers fear not, the full Slice + Dice experience isn’t going anywhere! Normal gaming tables will be available as normal for the rest of the week.

How to book:

2 person tables will require a £5 deposit which will be taken off your final bill on the night as long as your whole party attends.

3-4 person tables will require a £10 deposit, we’ll drop you an email once you’ve booked to ask if you’re a group of 3 or 4 and the deposit will be removed from your bill on the night as long as your whole party attends.

If you’re a solo diner or larger group then drop us an email at bookings@sliceanddice.cafe with your preferred time and we’ll look to add you in!

We hate having to do deposits but as we’re a small independent business trying something new, we just have to do this to protect ourselves from no-shows!
